Program Description

The Technical Response Unit (TRU) is part of the National Response Coordination Section (NRCS) in the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) Division of the FBI. The mission of the TRU is to provide temporary secure voice, video, and data communications capabilities to forward-deployed FBI personnel outside of traditional FBI space at critical incidents or crisis response sites throughout the world. To meet this need, TRU utilizes a nation-wide network of Mobile Command Post Vehicles (MCPV) and portable, scalable IT Fly Away communications kits.TRU serves as CIRG’s telecommunications and networked systems authority, managing design, development and deployment of complex local and wide-area data communications, security and access control measures, and other systems.
